About buying Fine Wine at Majestic
Feel free to mix Fine Wines with “regular” wines to make up your order of 12 bottles (or more!) in total. However, at least 6 bottles must be Fine Wine products, because Fine Wines require special distribution from our temperature-controlled Fine Wine Centre in London. Original wooden cases not available ouside the M25.

"This is a serious Meursault that is the epitome of purity and freshness. Beautiful aromas of stone fruits, baked lemons, citrus fruits, melon, toast and minerals leap from the glass. The nose spills over onto the palate, and as the flavours intensify the wonderful tartness of citrus fruits pulls everything back together, providing wonderful texture and mouthfeel. Its freshness, purity and precision of aromas and flavours is extraordinary, and this is a wine that should provide drinking pleasure for at least another 6 – 8 years."

"Calon Segur has been one of my favourite wines for some time, and the 2003 is no exception. A more classically styled St-Estephe that offers up a rich nose of cassis, mulberries, and sweet summer fruits intermingled with delicious eucalyptus, peppery spice and subtle touches of oak. The palate is extraordinarily rich and round, and possesses great power and length. It’s easy to see why Robert Parker compares the 2003 to the almighty 1982!"

"From one of the more recent great vintages in Burgundy, the 2005 Morey-St-Denis from Domaine Arlaud is an absolute show stopper! A delicious nose of bitter cherries, raspberries, chocolate, is laced with subtle nuances of cinnamon and cloves. It doesn’t disappoint in the mouth either, with flavours of summer fruits and spice invigorating the palate, and ripe juicy tannins rounding out a wonderfully long and elegant finish. This is a wine for drinking now and over the next 2 to 3 years."

"This is textbook Puligny from a top grower. An enticing nose of white flowers, peaches, hazelnuts, toast, minerals and lemon zest paves the way for more of the same in the mouth. The palate is reasonably fruity and medium bodied, and has a wonderful chalky and zesty finish. This is archetypal Puligny, and it’s delicious! Perfect as an aperitif or partnered with seafood. Drink it over the next 2 – 3 years."

    Chassagne-Montrachet 2005 Jean-Marc Pillot

"Now fully mature, this is a delicious Chassagne Montrachet with lots of character. Swirling the wine round in the glass reveals the delicious and intense aromas of roasted nuts, baked apples, freshly baked bread and hints of spice intermingle well with the citrus and tropical undertones. In the mouth the wine is wonderfully evolved, rich and intense, and is balanced by the tangy citrus acidity. Very fresh, clean and long in the mouth, this is classy stuff! Drink it over the next couple of years."

"Since Robert Arnoux passed away in 1995, Pascal Lachaux has been at the helm, and has been making some of the finest wines in the Cote d'Or. The 2007 Chambolle Musigny displays a wonderful balance between power and finesse. A rich and voluptuous nose of sweet redcurrants, plums and black cherries, sweet new oak, and a delicate whiff of spice. The richness of fruit continues in the mouth, balanced by fantastic acidity and a wonderful minerally backbone. A wonderful expression of Pinot Noir that will impress the real Burgundy enthusiast! Drink now and over the next 3 – 4 years."

Cyril Henschke Cabernet Sauvignon 2003 Henschke, Eden Valley

Ripe black fruits are supported by a wonderfully broad sweep of spices, cedar and leather, with distinctive hints of eucalyptus and mint. Very long and harmonious and nothing less than superb.

"From one of the most prestigious estates in Australia, the 2003 Cyril Henschke lives up to the hype. Made from 91% Cabernet and 9% Merlot, the nose offers up ripe aromas of luscious black fruits, minty eucalyptus, violets, blueberries and sweet oak. It has such a big personality and it delivers on all fronts. The palate is extraordinarily big, rich and round. The sweetness and ripeness of fruit provides real weight and depth in the mouth, and lingers on the palate for a good 45 seconds or so. In a word, superb! Whilst it is providing sensational drinking pleasure now, it is a wine that will reward those who can avoid temptation and stash it away in the cellar for another 10 years."

  • A bottle of Château Gruaud-Larose 2005 Cru Classé, St-Julien - Majestic Wine

    Château Gruaud-Larose 2005 Cru Classé, St-Julien

Super harmony and style here, a Gruaud with intensity of flavour, purity and all-important freshness. If the property maintains its reasonable pricing policy of recent years, Gruaud will be an excellent buy.

"Hailing from the great 2005 vintage, this is an exceptional wine that offers great value for money. Very dark and sexy in the glass, the wine offers up a wonderful bouquet of ripe black fruits, peppermint, eucalyptus and some herbaceous notes. In the mouth, it is medium bodied with good weight and intensity, and the luscious black fruits provide good length to what can only be described as a sleek and sexy wine! Drink it over the next 10 years."

"In the prime of its life, the 2001 Barbaresco from Pio Cesare is absolutely delicious. The elegant (almost Burgundian) nose of sweet cherries and redcurrants, is complemented by wonderful secondary fruit characters of dried figs and prunes. There are notes of pot pourri and some spicy oak. At 9 years of age, the vibrancy of fruit is astonishing, rich and intense and with a wonderful earthiness, the wine is an absolute delight! This is a bargain for any wine enthusiast!"

  • A bottle of Château Pichon-Longueville Baron 2004 Cru Classé, Pauillac - Majestic Wine

Château Pichon-Longueville Baron 2004 Cru Classé, Pauillac

The Cabernet content here, some 65%, asserts itself well though conversely there is a lush, openness on the mid-palate. This looks to have all the right components and balance to knit very well in time, and will be a fine wine in the vintage.

"I have found that most of the 2004's I have tried, have been claret drinkers delights. This is no exception! Once you get past the wonderful deep purple colour of the wine, you are entranced by the beguiling nose of blackcurrants, licorice, eucalyptus, bitter chocolate and truffles. This monstrous wine is unbelievably soft and delicate in the mouth and offers real drinking pleasure. Drink it now, or stash it in the cellar for another 5 – 10 years."
