  • A bottle of Emilio Moro 2006 Ribera del Duero - Majestic Wine

Emilio Moro 2006 Ribera del Duero

Layered on the palate, it has tons of fruit, plenty of spice box notes, a firm structure, and 2-3 years of ageing potential.' 92 points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.

    • D

"Another stunning wine from Ribera del Duero, one of my favourite regions of Spain, which is gaining cult status and usually has prices to match. This fine example is aged in both French and American oak for 12 months and offers a beautiful nose of dark fruits, smoke and pencil shavings. The palate is a real mouthful, rich and powerful yet beautifully balanced with a silky smooth texture. At this price, it offers great value and has the potential to age, if you can bring yourself to do such a thing. Personally, I don't think I could leave it alone... "

"A blend of Syrah and Grenache, this is a fantastic value wine from Costières de Nîmes, an up and coming region near Rhône. With lush forest fruit and a lovely spicy herbaceousness on the nose mirrored by the palate, this is my perfect Autumn party or Wedding wine recommendation."

  • A bottle of Soave Classico Suavia 2008 - Majestic Wine

    Soave Classico Suavia 2008

The Tessari family have been growing grapes in Soave since 1887, but in 1982 the family, aware of their land's great potential for producing high-quality wines, decided to stop selling their grapes to the local Co-op and begin making their own wine. The result is a stunning white with citrus, floral and buttery notes and a rich yet fresh palate. This wine will be beautifully matched with hors d'oeuvres and fish-based courses.

"Suaveness is a quality in short supply these days, but this wine has it in abundance. It is fresh and clean, yet rich on the palate and displays vibrant citrus fruit with subtly nuanced creamy and nutty notes. Despite a price that puts it within reach of us all, it's as suave and sophisticated as David Niven bowling down to Royal Ascot in a vintage Morgan."

  • A bottle of Rioja 'Single Vineyard' 2007 Ramon Bilbao - Majestic Wine

Rioja 'Single Vineyard' 2007 Ramon Bilbao

From vines with an average age of 46 years, this deeply concentrated, intensely fruity Rioja has a bright cherry red colour with aromas of sweet cherries, blackberries and brioche.

    • C

" This wine blends the classy Tempranillo, the sophisticated and complex classic Rioja grape with the soft and luxurious Grenache in equal measure. This provides a modern, easy drinking wine that can be enjoyed on its own but can nevertheless hold its own with all kinds of food, especially roasts and cheeses."

  • A bottle of Domaine Tranquillité 2005 Bernard Magrez, Vin de Pays d'Oc - Majestic Wine

Domaine Tranquillité 2005 Bernard Magrez, Vin de Pays d'Oc

An amazing value limited parcel from acclaimed Bordeaux winemaker Bernard Magrez. Something of a crossbreed between the traditional blends of Bordeaux and the Languedoc, marvel at the unbelievably low price over a rich beef stew.

    • D

"As Roy Ayers pointed out in his 1976 jazz-funk classic, 'Everybody Loves The Sunshine'. Bordeaux winemaker Bernard Magrez is no exception. He headed south to the Languedoc to create this seamless blend of almost every major French varietal. The result is a warm, comforting wine with luxurious plum and red berry fruit. It has a powerful but classy structure and a finish far longer than you'd expect at this bargain-basement price . You can taste the sunshine in every drop."

    • D
    • Bronze medal IWC 2007

"This award-winning Malbec Reserva displays aromas of liquorice and spice with lots of black fruit and vanilla characters which contribute to a long, elegant finish. Representing the true, fashionable Mendoza style this would be perfect with a rack of lamb on minted mashed potatoes. "

  • A bottle of Thelema Mountain Red 2007 - Majestic Wine

    Thelema Mountain Red 2007

Ripe red fruit with a spicy and complex character. Drinking very well at the moment but will develop beautifully with a couple of years ageing.

    • D

"The unlikely blend of Bordeaux and Rhône varieties with a dash of pinotage give this red an unmistakable South African feel. Bramble fruits and white pepper dominate on the nose whilst subtle undertones of juniper, ginger, and morello cherry emerge on the palate. A powerful wine with impressive harmony, this is a perfect match for the more esoteric meats from the farmers' market. "

  • A bottle of Majestic Peaks Pinot Noir 2008 Central Otago - Majestic Wine

Majestic Peaks Pinot Noir 2008 Central Otago

This wine is made exclusively for Majestic, hence the name! This first release of Majestic Peaks Pinot Noir shows vibrant wild thyme, spice, liquorice, rich raspberry jam and cherry aromatics.

    • C

"As a Pinot lover, I was really excited when this new example from Central Otago reached Ayr, and it doesn’t disappoint. From the southernmost wine region in the world, this has soft cherry and strawberry fruit flavours that are complemented with a smooth, smoky and spicy finish. The Majestic Peaks would be great for people that don’t always go for red wine as it has complexity but isn’t overpowering."

  • A bottle of John X Merriman 2006 Rustenberg, Stellenbosch - Majestic Wine

John X Merriman 2006 Rustenberg, Stellenbosch

This wine has a full, smooth palate with blackberry flavours and cigar-box aromas.

    • D

"Oomph! Something about the name, John X Merriman, suggests this wine is going to be bigger, bolder and badder than the rest, and it doesn't disappoint. It may be a Bordeaux blend but its power, in body and tannin, simply towers over the Greysac. It's a smooth drinking monster, bearing herbaceous black fruit and smoky cigar-boxes. A very big Second Row."

  • A bottle of Beaujolais Villages 2008 Château de la Terrière - Majestic Wine

Beaujolais Villages 2008 Château de la Terrière

From old vines on the Morgon border this is a Beaujolais Villages which has the depth and complexity of a Cru. With a beguiling nose of black cherry and roses the palate has the breadth and symmetry of a serious wine.

    • C
    • Suitable for vegetarians
    • Suitable for vegans

"Bring back the Summer during these dark Winter days with this fuller bodied Beaujolais-Villages. Made with grapes sourced from old vines the nose is packed with forest fruits and a hint of vanilla, while the palate delivers confected strawberry and silky tannins. With the finnesse of a Brouilly and the body of a Morgon, Beaujolais-Villages of this quality could easily be confused with one of the ten cru appelations. Like an English summer this Beaujolais is gone all too quickly so be sure to snap some up soon! "
