"Made from some of the oldest Shiraz vines in the world, the 2006 Turkey Flats Shiraz is an absolute behemoth of a wine. Once you get past the amazing opaque purple colour of this wine, you are delivered a knockout nose of sweet blueberries, blackberries, violets, asphalt and peppery spice. A super concentrated palate delivers sweet black fruits by the spade full, all held together by juicy and chewy tannins. A superb wine of epic proportions, it is very forward and drinkable now but you will be rewarded if you have the patience to cellar it for 10 years."

"Big, sweet aromas of stewed rhubarb, cherries and raspberries intermixed with cardamom, star anise, black pepper and wood smoke provide a sensational bouquet. In the mouth the wine is big, ripe and fleshy, with wonderfully smooth tannins and gentle acidity. A top wine from a top grower, and should provide drinking pleasure for another 10 – 12 years."

  • A bottle of Sancerre 2008 Château de Sancerre - Majestic Wine

    Sancerre 2008 Château de Sancerre

Piercingly concentrated and aromatic fruit, overlaid with a fine mineral complexity.

    • 1

"The first Sauvignon Blanc I've chosen is a brilliant example of a traditional Loire Valley Sancerre, with a smoky complexity alongside citrus notes. Having been lucky enough to visit the Château a while ago, I'll admit a slight bias, but the continued success of this perfectly balanced wine shows I'm not the only admirer."

  • A bottle of Rioja Reserva 2005/2006 Muga - Majestic Wine

    Rioja Reserva 2005/2006 Muga

Muga's Reserva has a lovely bouquet of vanilla and strawberry aromas that follow through elegantly on the palate. (Spain)

    • D

"This deep ruby Reserva Rioja from Muga is my perfect wine for Easter Sunday. Heady aromas of sweet vanilla from American oak fill the glass, with notes of fresh strawberry, cedar and spice. Pure fruit flavours of redcurrant and cranberry follow through on the palate. French oak also works its magic with notes of cedar, spice and clove. The ripe tannins, partially owing to the 24 months in oak, are integrated beautifully and will stand up well to the robust meatiness of roast lamb, making an excellent match for your Easter Sunday lunch. Redcurrant and vanilla linger on the gloriously long finish from this outstanding Rioja."

  • A bottle of Cloudy Bay Pelorus NV - Majestic Wine

    Cloudy Bay Pelorus NV

Noticeably rich and full-bodied in style, with an opulent character to the fruit and distinctive toastiness on the nose, but with elegance nonetheless.

    • 2

"This excellent sparkling wine, from hugely influential producer Cloudy Bay, really provides you with a lot of bang for your buck! Chardonnay is predominant in the blend, as in some of the best Champagnes, which explains the apple aromas on the nose. The palate, as you'd expect from a sparkling wine with 2 years maturation on yeast lees, is a delightful balance of crisp fresh apple and nutty yeast characters. While amazing with salmon, for pure indulgence, you can't beat matching this with fish and chips."

  • A bottle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2008 Domaine du Clos des Papes - Majestic Wine

Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2008 Domaine du Clos des Papes

Very appealing, this shows a floral-lift on the palate, with enticing spiced raspberry fruit, notes of garrigue, and a liquorice-like character to the finish. The tannins are barely perceptible in this engaging forward-drinking Châteauneuf.

"The undisputed King of the southern Rhone! The 2008 is a more elegant and refined Chateauneuf, but still has all the trademark characteristics. Deep ruby in colour, the bouquet is packed full of dark cherry and blackberry fruit intermixed with more savoury notes of licorice, roasted herbs, grilled meat and earthy undertones. It is elegant and pure in the mouth, with real definition and ripeness of fruit and soft chewy tannins. This is most certainly an early drinking wine that should continue to develop for the next 8 - 10 years. "

"Cloudy Bay Pinot Noir - needing no introduction this exceptional wine is produced in very small quantities, offering you a rare opportunity to try a different grape from the cult winery. The subtle cherry fruit hints at a Burgundian style wine, whilst the finish is well-balanced and structured - Simply divine."

"Ooh La La! This wine has a knockout nose of raspberries, espresso and asphalt. On the palate, the wine has even more to offer. Rich and full bodied, there is an abundance of raspberry and cherry fruit intermingled with the delicious flavours of espresso coffee. There are also nuances of licorice and tobacco on the very long and pleasurable finish. This is a fantastic Pomerol for the money. Ready to drink now, or stash it away for 4 - 5 years and treat yourself in a few years time."
